Footsteps through Lent has been put together for two reasons. Firstly to give people a place to find daily reflections during Lent, and secondly to give groups some resources to pray with.

Everything can be found on the website.

The daily refections are accessed simply by clicking the link for the right day.

Who is it for?

Helpers, nurses, or doctors who have been to Lourdes at least 2 times

What is the aim?

To help those who would like to deepen their experience of Lourdes.

The day will involve exploring prayer and spirituality, teamwork and group dynamics. It will also give a chance to look at ways of living faith the other 51 weeks of the year.

Cost?

£10 (to pay for meals, room hire and other incidental expenses)

The format of the day:

A. Introduction/keynote – [TBC]

B. 2 workshops on Prayer and spirituality

1. Prayer – leading prayer times and encouraging others to do the same. Resources for times and places of prayer: Jack Regan, Chaplain of St Wilfrid’s and Redshirt leader

2. Faith sharing – Scripture, reflections, story-telling. Recognise and use opportunities to share your faith, your story, listen to others’ story and to God’s story Lizzie Wakeling, teacher, redshirt leader, helper

C. Lunch

D. Faith into action – introducing people to activities which are going on in the Diocese and where people could get involved

1. The Youth Ministry including Youth camp August 2010 and World Youth Day 2011 and other diocesan activities – Ray Mooney

E. Closing prayer/liturgy

On April 17th at St. Wilfrid’s School in Crawley (the place we had Youth Gather) there will be a new Catholic youth event for those aged 14-20.

It was a very tentative first step for us all… mostly just about getting to know eachother and mapping out the ‘road to Madrid’ over the next nineteen months. We heard some interesting stuff from Ray and Lucy about preparations being made by the diocese and we also had a chance to get together in small groups and talk about what we felt was needed in terms of a preparation programme. Some fascinating ideas came out of that, both in terms of preparation and formation for the leaders and also in terms of what’s going to happen when we get the whole group together.

It seems like we’ve got a great team. There is a good mix of people and they all seem to get on well together. We are now at the start of a very exciting journey… Keep us in your prayers.

We shall be publishing application forms online on 1 March and also sending them to all those who have contacted the Youth Office, expressing an interest in going to Madrid. Interest is high so we encourage you to apply early on!
