Good news from Brighton and Hove!
Key to the ongoing development of youth ministry is that when occasions like NYS are being planned there should always be one eye on the mid and long term view. So all that communities do with and for young people should be ongoing throughout the year. Youth Ministry is a shared responsibility that all communities should desire to be a part of. Young people are 'the Church of TODAY and the HOPE of tomorrow" JP11 Ninian Park, Cardiff 1982.

Christmas may come just once a year, CHRIST is all year round.

Thank you to the communities of our diocese for accepting this essential opportunity to share in the responsibility.

Love and Prayers, rayxxx diocesan youth adviser. Happy Advent!

At the Parish of the Sacred Heart Hove young people lead the readings, bidding prayers and a narrated meditation with tableau of Jesus' judgement by Pilate in place of the sermon. Children lead an extended offertory procession offered symbols associated with the life of "Our Servant King" straw from his birthplace, a saw for his childhood as a carpenter's home, a white stick for healing, a bottle of wine for a miracle and a wooden crown for his passion. Stencilled images of Our Servant King spray painted by young people adorned the church pillars. A moving and very participatory mass!

At my parish this morning (St. Joseph's, Brighton) young people were mentioned in the bidding prayers as well as in Fr. John's homily. There was also a 'youth liturgy' at the same time as the childrens liturgy, as there often is.

Just before the final blessing, Fr. John invited everybody under 18 to stand on the sanctuary steps. He then invited the congregation to extend a hand as we all prayed for them. There were 40 of them, which was impressive.

It was a nice moment :)
